Look what I found!

I've had this dress for almost three years now, and only worn it about twice but I'm thinking of trying it out again! It was £40 from a boutique in Brighton (which has closed down now D:) called Quontum. I love the colour, and sheer is vair in these days :)

I also got this striped tunic from H&M for £10... I think it'll be great in Egypt and in the Summer in Brighton (seriously. I can't wait.)

New jeanssss

Ok, awful pictures but you get the idea. I loveee them, they're so flattering!

Also, I've been wanting a brown plaited belt since last Summer, and I finally found one for a reasonable price in Primark! I'm ridiclously excited about this because these belts literally go with everything: they can dress up and outfit or make it casual!

Christmas time (sorry for the delay!!!!!)

I'm bored of Winter now. Bring on the Summer.

Ok, so I finally sourced my camera, memory card and card reader so I can post about my Christmas presents.... However, it's so embarrassingly late that I'm going to call it a post on my New Year's present. (Don't tell!)

I had a very clothes and jewellery-orientated Christmas New Year, and I love them all! Mostly because they were all complete surprises.

Firstly, I got a Thomas Sabo charm bracelet with some laaavely charms. I don't have an actual picture, but this is the exact same bracelet with all the same charms.
Next up some gorgeous brogues, from Oasis. They go really well with my heart tights in my opinion, as a contrast between girlyness and masculinity.

FINALLY my beautiful new watch! It's a Toy Watch and this was the biggest surprise because I literally had no idea that I was even going to get a watch, let alone a Toy Watch that I've been lusting over for yeaaaaars.

I also got some floral tights, a ring and some floral pumps from my friends :D

I also got some interesting make-up. It's glittery! As you may be able to see, it's hard for precision but this was New Year's Eve so I thought I'd go out with it like this :)

Ooh ooh also my aunt and uncle got this amazing hat from River Island for me for Christmas, which due to the snow I wore A LOT.

I've got sooo much more to say, but I'll leave it for another day! Bye for now :) xxx

very, very, very niiice

I know I have a mild (ok, more than mild) obsession with Fearne Cotton but I can't help it: I love her rock, vintage style. Also, I love how she's made it big without being stunningly beautiful.
Anyway, when I first heard about her clothing line on Very some time last year I was reaaally excited! And rightly so, because there are so many gorgeous things ! And it's not even too expensive. Here's some of the new collection.
A simple bag that still makes a statement, thanks to the tassels. And I love love love grey at the moment (as boring as that is!) It's £25, so buy now!

This is a gorgeous vintage-style dress, and I love the collar on this one! Unfortunately, at £59 it's just out of my price range, but it's sooo worth the slight splurge.

These jeans will REALLY not suit me: the colour's too light, and the rips and studs will highlight all the wrong parts of my legs, but I can't help loving them. So brilliantly grungey! These would look great with a fancy top, or maybe something floaty and floral to balance out the grunge. £35.

I really like brogues: I got a pair of black ones for Christmas and I wear them all the time, because they just look great with pretty much everything! White ones may not be quite as practical, but they'll look good in summer as well with lovely floaty summer dresses.

What I like the most about this unicorn t-shirt is what Very describes as 'burnt out jersey', which is one of my current fashion fetishes! £20

This beanie looks great on Fearne, and it really does suit loads of hairstyles. It's such a vibrant colour as well, so it's perfect for the transition from Winter to Spring and it's only £14!

And while we're on the subject of clothes (not sure what else I'd be talking about!) I'm going to Egypt this half term (in about 3 weeks) and it's a Muslim country, so I'll be needed a maxi dress. Hmmm not a good look for an extremely short person, and also due to the whole snow situation, not many stores have stocked up on their summer dresses! So far, my favourite is this lovely number from Miss Selfridge for £38, because of the gold embellishments at the top and bottom. However, ideally I'm looking for something a bit cheaper. So if any of you know a less mainstream shop that might have some beauties please let me know! Thanks, love you all! xxx

QUICK ONE

ahhhh super-cuteness, it even has little tiny diamante studs on it. Pure art form in a cross body bag, arghhhh  the clutch to open it is the stalk of the apple! I think it's true love. Topshop, £30.

Go forth and buy, my lovelies. xxx

OWL TIME

A brilliant trend that can be interpreted in so many different ways.... for a super cutesy look try one of these fuzzy owls.

Temporary:Secretary rocks! They're £8.50 each, and my favourite is.. ahhhh just can't decide! I think the black one. What about you?

This little owl is perfect for the uber-fashionable... just look at the pretty little stones! Topshop, £8.

And again with the gorgeous stones! This one might possibly be my favourite, I love the branch so much! Love Hearts and Crosses, £12. And remember, you can get a discount with the discount code ELLAAPPAREL.

This is the edgiest member of my owlery, and perfect for any rock chicks! It's a longline chain, which I love, and it's even 3D! Asos, £6.

The best feature of this one from Promod is that it's in 5 parts, for a relaxed, boho look and costs £12.

WOW this one will really make a statement. Not only is there a vintage silver effect, and stunning blue eyes, but also the size is amazing! This is £15, and also from Love Hearts and Crosses.

Right well I'm going to flutter off (see what I did there? Funny, huh? Ok, fine, no more jokes.) and buy one of these... hmmm now to decide which one.... do you think it would be unreasonable for me to buy every last one? Nah, definitely not. xxx

Miss Selfridge ROCKS!

Now Miss Selfridge usually gets a bit overlooked, at least it does by me. But after a tip off from a reliable source (thanks mum :D) I decided to check it out and MY GOD there's a lot of gorgeous stuff on there!

From top to bottom: Bangles, £12; Tights, £6; Boots, £50; Vest, £22; Polka dot dress, £35; Poppy dress, £38; Jumper dress, £38; Sequin vest, £30; Lace dress, £45.

And there's plenty more where that came from so make sure to have a look! xx

rrrrrrrrrrrrrring rrrrrrrrrrrrring

There seems to be a sudden flurry of phone jewellery appearing! Not that I'm complaining, it's the ultimate piece of kitsch jewellery.

These lovelies are from Temporary:Secretary... I love how the receiver is detachable! Sooo cute. Personally, my favourite is the silver, to match my new charm bracelet (there will be a post about Christmas presents soon, but I left the adapter for the memory card at my grandma's in Manchester ): ) and I will be purchasing it ASAP. £18.

These adorable little 50s telephone earrings (left, £5) and ring (right, £6) are from Ji Ji Kiki... I don't see what's wrong with getting the entire set and then just mixing and matching!

Ahhh another beautiful vintage style telephone... this one's £10 from Asos.

I love the fact that not only does this necklace have a retro-style telephone charm, but also a kitsch postcard charm! Ah LOVE IT. £12.99, Mama San.

Call me! (aha, again with the unnecessary cheesy joke :P) xx

WISHLIST.

mmmmmm so many things I need to buy right now.

Ooooooh also I'm a bit late to jump on the eBay bandwagon... about 10 years too late! Anyway, thanks to my cousin I found this great supplier of pocket watches that cost under £1, some even cost as little as 1p! They're up for auction constantly, the only thing is deciding which one you like the most! Just search for pocket watch necklace on eBay to find them.

Is it just me or...

... is 2010 set to be a terrible year for trends for anyone without model-like proportions???
According to Grazia magazine, these are just some of the major fashion trends we should be wearing this season:
1) Lycra. The highlight being crop tops inspired by those worn by pre-pubescent girls for school pe.

Nicole Farhi, top, Alexander Wang, bottom.

Having said that though, the rest of Alexander Wang's collection is looking a lot better... some lovely layering and brilliant sweatshirts.

2) Bumbags.... surely enough said? I personally have enough weight on my behind without adding some huge bag to it!

Although, if I did have to wear a bumbag I'd want it to be Louis Vuitton.... this brown leather one has almost convinced me! (Emphasis on the almost)

3) Short shorts... and I mean REALLY short shorts.

These lovely ladies modeling for Stella McCartney (top) and Giambattista Valli (bottom) look gorgeously giraffe-like... but anyone with even slightly chunkier or shorter legs will just look like some kind of sausage thing.

Well I think that's enough grumbling for one day... or maybe even for the rest of the year! This has been the most negative blogpost ever to make it onto the blogosphere... However, the high street designers have a way of making these things a bit more wearable, so I'll reserve my final judgement until the stores show their takes on them for us common people. Anyway, let's end with the trends to look forward to wearing:

1) Grungey nail varnish... the shade of the season for a/w 09 was Chanel Jade, and this season Chanel seems set to start another trend with their new shade, Chanel Particuliere. As seen on Lily Allen performing ON . THE. CATWALK. Nicknamed 'greige', it's already got a huge waiting list but I have faith in the British high street, there will soon be hundreds of shades of greige available for our convenience.

2) Clashing prints, OMG they were seen literally EVERYWHEREEE. The highlights for me being Christopher Kane (top) and Etro (middle) , who clashed checks and florals using floaty materials, and Rebecca Taylor (bottom) mixed her ditsy florals with ditsy polka dots.

Oh oh oh before I go I have to share this beauty tip from my friend... putting a few sprays of perfume in damp hair makes you smell like an angel all day! :)

See you all soon, have fun in the snow xxx
